Reaction time as a cheaper, alternative, measure of intelligence has been suggested by some working in the field of cognition. Reaction Time Standard Deviation (R.T.S.D., a measure of consistency in reaction speed) more so than just simple reaction time. Scores tend to be more consistent the quicker your mean reaction time is. The average, soon to be a pensioner fuddy duddy ,such as myself, will react considerably slower than the average 30 year old. It would be interesting to see how action video game players do.
