Neologisms

Sorry to be a downer for the holidays but I wanted to know if anyone here has experience with neologisms, “made up” words as part of disorganized thinking/thought disorder. If so, I wanted to know the types of things you come up with and how it ties in with your disorganized thinking.

One time I was going to puff on my friend’s vape and I called it a “puffalator”. Other times I’ll accidently switch words around. Spoonerisms they call it?

I think spoonerisms are just errors in speech and alot more common. Neologisms are made up words that occur due to brain damage/psychosis.

I have it in medical notes I have used neologisms in the past.

I don’t know if I used neologisms per say. But I used to make up my own words to mean stuff. And then use them. It was usually simple stuff like: als alsus means I was tired, entanda munda means I was annoyed, etc. I tried really hard to get myself to stop doing that because I don’t want the kids to do it. I think I am mostly not doing it anymore. So, if I can stop it, perhaps it is not brain damage due to psychosis and thus not a neologism?

Well that is exactly what neologisms are. They are invented words that only have a meaning to the user.
