I like that little dream catcher behind the ear, that’s cute. I have my wife’s name on the back of my neck, and the tattoo on my chest comes up the front of my neck a little. I don’t think neck tattoos are trashy, but like any other tattoo, the wrong thing on the wrong person will look bad, IMO.
Can you get them to just draw it first so you can decide if you like it or not? If not, just wash it off.
Does the artist know that he/she will be doing one on your neck? Some artists refuse to do neck tattoos on people who are not already heavily tattooed, same with hand tattoos. Other than facial tattoos, I’m betting neck and hand tattoos are the most regretted, since they are so hard to hide when necessary. Some artists are just more comfortable doing them on people who are heavily tattooed and accustomed to having their ink seen, like people who already have sleeves.
I keep all ink in places that are easily covered by clothing. I don’t even have any arm tattoos, because I know some employers are not okay with visible ink and, in the event that I one day work for such an employer, I do not want to be forced to wear long sleeves to work every day. Mine are on my chest, shoulder and calves. Friday I’m getting one on my other shoulder.
That’s just my take on it, anyway. It’s your skin to do what you want with, just be sure it’s what you want before you get it.
@everhopeful, they always draw them out first, then copy to a stencil, then place the stencil on the skin and let the client view it before they start actually tattooing.
If you are going to get neck tattoo get where the placement of the dream catcher is so it’s a bit hidden by hair. I have 8 large peices / tattoos but would never tattoo my neck or hands. I have a cool lower forearm tattoo but that can be covered by a blouse or long sleeve for interviews if I can work again someday. I also have a smallee chest - shoulder peice that shows just a touch near neck… but again is far enough away it can be covered. But all my art can also be easily seen if I want it to. Stay away from the neck. … sorry your life tour decision but j just had to say it.
Placement of that dandelion is perfect. Just a touch near neck. @Skims @cherie
I am not sure what this means - but I never really thought it would be a bad thing to have tattoos as I am a graphic designer - I don’t think it would be problematic for my job. I am also a make up artist (that might be weird I guess) unless I get something very feminine.
If I get the angel wings tattoos - it will be very small on the back side of my neck. I will think more about it.
Sorry my writing errors bad night, it should say: your life decision, I just had to say it…
And at the end of the day it is and you do what’s right for you.
I just love mine and they are very obvious but can be covered.
Now… that said i was going to get a small one behind my ear but my artist said my ears are too small it would go much on my neck. I wanted it tucked away. I have one that creeps next to bottom my neck. Do what’s right for you… whatever you get rock it.
Oh just saw your comment re at back of neck yeah that’s not what I thought of as a neck tattoo. I love that placement. And it could be covered if ever need
@cherie…
Don’t get a neck tattoo! You’ve changed your handle on this forum 3 times over a short span…you’re all over the map.
Get a tattoo on a discreet part of your body, so there won’t be any regrets.
so I decided to let go of the neck tattoo for now -
Gonna get
let it be written with a daisy under my collarbone
and an arrow on my hand
Gorgeous. And love the placement.
I got my two tattoos - just need some time to heal I’ll post pics.
A daisy under my collarbone and an arrow on my lower /hand / wrist under the pinky.
