NAMI. Is it for me?

Sooooo… I plan on attending a meeting soon, but my mother complains that I do too much just in one day. Any suggestion, questions, comments, and/or concerns???

@DatTallGuyCam
I think that it is for you to decide.
I don’t know your schedule, I don’t know your situation, it’s for you to decide whether your mother has a point.
I do think that going to NAMI meeting is great as you can meet new friends there and people you can relate to.
If you don’t go on that day you can go to the next meeting.
Best wishes,
Erez

I’m attending another Bipolar Support Group meeting tonight.
My doctors and family want me to attend, even though it feels like I don’t fit in so well.
Good luck with going to the NAMI meeting, you may get something out of it.
You might even make some friends.

hey they have a NAMI here in Hawaii. I was thinking of going to a meeting too; for about a month now. I think I’m going to go to one this week. You should go. who knows mayby you might learn something, or meet someone new or worth getting to know. At least that’s been my mentality. I mean afterall what do you have to lose, ‘welcome to the club’

I hope it works out for you if you go. Maybe it will be helpful. Only you can decide if you can fit it in to your schedule.

I agree with the others that you know your schedule better than anybody. If you think you can do it and would benefit from it, then go for it. May turn out to be the best decision you ever made. Maybe you’ll make some friends there, who knows? It’s definitely worth a shot, in my opinion.

I attended NAMI twice. I finished the first time and dropped out the second time. I didn’t benefit from NAMI the second time around. I think it’s great and that it’s really awesome for parents of schizophrenics, but for me, not so much. We were told we couldn’t “socialize” and we couldn’t smoke cigarettes (because we were on hospital grounds). The information is technical but it’s the same. I did enjoy the “science” behind schizophrenia and other illnesses. My parents benefited tremendously. It’s also nice to have an accolade. Being a peer support specialist can possibly get your foot into the door to jobs and opportunities.
