Why are some names light grey and others dark grey?
Light grey names indicate a new user.

It depends on the user. After you’ve read a certain number of posts, and made a certain number of posts, and I think one other thing, you get promoted to full member. I can’t remember all the requirements off the top of my head.

And, the great unspoken rule: you need to avoid doing anything that would make the mods suspicious that you might abuse your membership to hurt other users.

I’m just saying in general. Some people abuse membership privileges by trying to discuss off-limit topics with other users. Usually, it involves them trying to convince others of their unusual beliefs. That behavior is not okay here, because it can destabilize people.
