N-Acetylcysteine in Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder (Video)

Good for negative symptoms ?

I couldn’t tolerate 1200mg a day :frowning: it made me foggy headed.

So now I’m trying 1000mg at night. I’m desperate.

From the video description :

Professor Berk starts this section of the presentation by discussing a study that looked at the effects of NAC on Schizophrenia. The study demonstrated a reduction in negative symptoms.

In Bipolar Disorder, NAC demonstrates large effect sizes across the range of Bipolar symptoms; from depression to functioning, to quality of life etc. In another study, it was revealed that NAC also produces higher rates of remission for Mania, compared to a placebo.

I take NAC and it definitely helps me with both insight and untangling delusional thoughts.

I used to take NAC. It helped with anxiety and other stuff. I cut back my supplements due to interactions. Now, I just take sarcosine and coq10.

I really liked sodium benzoate but was worried about cancer. That stuff really worked. Almost ended up with mania I guess. I never had mania. Just hypomania.
