My Thesis Regarding Reason

I often hear or read the proposition:" Why would a God allow such suffering?"
And my first argument is: The majority of suffering in the world today is created/facilitated/prolonged and maintained by that which Humans have constructed in the last 10 000 years and is not produced directly by the Natural World which was created by God.
My second argument is that this condition is allowed to persist so we may learn from it. And the individual life is one slant on this central part-natural part-constructed reality. Thus the schizophrenic, the beggar, the super-mum, the rich playboy, the King of England, the Pope etc. each represent a unique perspective for the length of their mortal coil.
The Soul that is in your body today will go to a Spirit realm or Heaven( if you like) and/or into another physical incarnation in your next life.

this does not counter interact with evolution?

If you love someone set them free. In the next 5 minutes I can do something wonderful or terrible. I have the freedom to choose.

I guess that is a way of looking at it. I always thought of it as god not caring about one particular person but rather the big picture. So evil empires fall and groups of people doing things right causes for a nation to succeed.

really?! what about genocides?!

@MsBuddha

It’s all good.

I’m fine.

Those don’t take away a good portion of humanity. Compared to relatively what the black death did it doesn’t really compare. Also the big 3 have either fallen or are trying to change. That being nazi germany, ussr, and china.

I am not sure if this is schizophrenia-friendly :smile:

My main psychosis/ delusion is about the revelations.

Ahh what the your name is special k now? Why do you change it so much? I have a crappy name but I never change mine because I don’t think people will no who I am anymore. Anyway good counterpoint.

@MelGibson…

This is your rebuttal to the argument, “Why would a God allow such suffering?”

The question is flawed…

How come we never ask ourselves the opposite, “How could the Devil allow me to enjoy this beautiful sunset, or the birth of my child?”

yes. I am special and my name rhymes with Kim Kardashian :smile:

But I also bought Keloggs cereal Special K

No, this is not a good way to think, lots of carnage happens, lots of death and destruction, lots of horrible horrible things happen to innocent people. You dont have to look much further to war

No, the “Devil” presupposes some kind of celestial activity, which biases your counter argument before it can be objectively scrutinised

Why does god allow suffering?
Because he can.
