My mammogram

So, last year I had a mammogram and they said my breast tissue was too dense and from now on I need a 3D tomography mammogram.

Then, this year I just had a 3D one done and they said they still can’t see and because I’m high risk, I need to start getting bilateral breast MRIs every year with and without contrast in addition to the 3D mammograms. With my insurance, that’s $100! I scheduled it for end of August so I can save up. Ridiculous! I’m considering skipping it.

I understand how you feel, i am in a similiar boat. I had my bilaterial mammogram done and now they want a breast mri. Its been 10 days and i still havent called to schedule it because i just dont want to go down that road. They’ve called and sent two notices but im ignoring them. So i truly understand how you feel about skipping it. But neither of us should. We both need to get these tests done. For us and for our families.

@Pickpink I need to save up for mine. They collect copay at time of service. Can you afford yours, or are you just too nervous? My sister had stage 0 breast cancer but didn’t need anything except surgery.

I already met my out of pocket max for the year so it wont cost me anything fortunately. Im nervous and kinda sick of having health issues. In the past 3 months ive had to go to my primary care, my obgyn, my ortho who sent me to physical therapy, endo, and of course my p.doc. its just overwhelming me.

it’s smart to do even at your age if you’re having problems…

That does sound overwhelming @Pickpink . I’m sorry

I’m always going to doctors. Constantly. And often it is over something that could be serious. Which just puts me on edge all the time.

You should definitely do it. I’m sorry it’s costly.

I just had my mammogram a week ago and it came back normal thankfully.

However, the letter I got said, “your mammogram shows that your breast tissue is dense. Dense breast tissue is very common and is not abnormal. However, dense breast tissue can make it harder to find cancer through a mammogram. Also, dense breast tissue may increase your risk for breast cancer.”

I did have a 3-D mammogram, but nothing else was recommended. It says to talk with my healthcare provider on whether other supplemental tests, in addition to the Mammogram, may be appropriate for me, based on my individual risk.

I’m glad you most likely don’t need more tests @HollyHobbie .

Well, it’s been recommended that I talk to my doctor in case she recommends that I do. So, right now, it’s unknown. I put the letter in my purse, so I remember to call her office tomorrow.

Ok. Well, I hope it’s good news and you’re not high risk
