We are celebrating Christmas today, but my daughter can’t be here because she has the flu. My father in law is 87 and can’t handle getting sick. So my daughter is staying with her dad. 
I’m genuinely bummed.

Sorry your daughter is sick and can’t be there with you. Maybe you can arrange to spend some time with her when she gets better though. Hope you can have a good Christmas in spite of this.
