Besides the jail time they’ve always been good to me. Put me on the right track usually. I dont think the problem is how the criminal justice system treats mentally ill, the problem is that the mentally ill always end up in the criminal justice system rather than something suited specifically for mentally ill.
My friend was told the only way her son would get services is by going to jail. Nice huh? Ass who told her that needs a smack to the head

but that is true in many cases. a couple of years ago i could not get MI services because i was not court orderes to do so.
It was a cruddy way to say it, but forward.
