I would love to hear some music that has a special meaning to you all, and why.
It could be because of the connections you make, because of the memories it brings out, or maybe the way it sounds just makes you happy. Anything.
When I was a young boy I was very idealistic; I thought I could make the world fairer. Less judgmental. If nothing else it was a dream. My dream. Looking back it would be more accurate to say that I was a naive young boy.
This was my cat’s favorite song. I have a video from the day he died of him pulling himself out of his bed to press his ear against the speaker on my ipad to listen to this better. I haven’t been able to bear watching it, but thinking of him sailing the universe with his alien friends soothes my heart.
Chuck mangione’s music is just very special to me…
I fell in love with his music when I first heard it on king of the hill. He was a guest character on the show and I had no idea that he was a real person. When he played “feels so good” in that episode on top of megalo mart it hit something deep in me. Then I heard the song again on the radio on the way back from a camping trip and realized he was an actual musician. Here’s that song:
I promised I’d show you mine, and I’m having a lot of trouble deciding on only a few songs, because there are so many song that are special to me.
I chose this one because it’s from an album that I discovered almost ten years ago by accident, and the artist behind it has made a lot of music that I’ve been able to relate to a great deal.
The song reminds me of my “the one that go away” (you know, the person I wish I could be with, but who left me and moved on, and I never quite got over it. We all have one.), and the sorrow I felt/feel about not being the one she ended up with.
Tupac and Eminem I can relate to a lot. I actually like classic rock just as much as hip hop. Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd my favorites but Tupac and Eminem stand above everyone. Two years of my life were dedicated to Tupac. He really changed my life…in a lot of ways.
I also wanted to add another song, but that meant I’d have to listen to it in order to find the right version. The song ‘She came home for christmas’ by Mew is the song that has me the most emotional out of all songs I’ve ever heard due to the memories it triggers and the emotions I used to feel when I did listen to it.
I haven’t heard it in almost ten years because it triggers me, sort of, but I just wanted to mention it.
