have you ever had an increase in paranoia and delusional thinking in response to taking a new mood stabilizer? Specifically topomax
You could be having a bad reaction to Topamax.
It’s a strange med that can be a bit activating for some.

Topamax and depakote both made my sz worse. I had a bad reaction to them.

@Ninjastar did you find a mood stabilizer that didn’t make sz worse?
Lithium works well for me
@Moonwalker I had lithium toxicity a few years ago, I really don’t think I would ever take it again. I was sick for awhile, I had heart problems and all my joints swelled up and it hurt to move. I can’t remember what else, but I was in our little hospital here and then I wound up trying to kill myself and had to go to the psych hospital too. I think that’s about when I stopped working. Yeah and I think I was only taking 900 mg, but thanks anyway

Wow sorry to hear, I suppose people can metabolize it differently. Were you getting blood tests to titrate the therapeutic dose for you? Did you take too many by accident?
No, I think mood stabilizers just ended up being the wrong class of drugs for me. Have you ever tried Abilify? It’s an antipsychotic and a mood stabilizer, so it might work better.
For some reason I was almost at therapeutic at only 900 mg. Me and my husband think we figured out that it’s because I like to take hot baths with Epsom salts. That’s the only thing we could think of. Well no I did have a few drinks too, which is really, really rare for me.
oh I didn’t know that, that’s cool, but abilify gave me tardive dyskinesia (very mild hand tremor and lip pursing)
Only thing I can think I can think of is dehydration causing it. But I’m no dr. I did have what I thought were symptoms of lithium poisoning after a plane flight, and since then I take a 1L bottle of water with me when I fly for now.

I’m on lithium for suicidal thoughts. It hasn’t done anything for my sza

its not helping with the suicidal thoughts? I take rexulti, it works for that.
7 days, that’s awful, you need phillips milk of magnesia, that stuff works almost too good. Fast too, so be close to the bathroom.
