Back when me and my first wife were blowing all the money, I used to buy fifty pound blocks of self hardening clay…after it dried you could use acrylic paints on it…I still have a set of miniature pool balls I did in my living room. Problem is, you couldn’t let the sculptures get wet or put in a paper bag or they would soften again. I made some neat stuff…miss working with it.
I used to make things with air dry clay too but in the end i didnt see a point because i would only throw the finished product in the bin because id have no used for it
I used to do clay sculptures when I was in high school one of the classes had requirements to make things one of the pieces that I put together was an Egyptian bong but the carving of a duck on top the peace was so nice that it went on tour back in the '80s and it’s still touring today however I had a few pieces destroyed due to a cultural belief and they raided the place and destroyed the artwork haven’t done clay since
We save our fliers for my daughter because she messes around with paper mache:
Cheap and fun. Perhaps something to try?
