Lol that’s funny
I’ve only had one pdoc (female), so I have no insight as to whether she would be better than a male pdoc. I like her.
I feel more comfortable with female pdoc while I prefer a male therapist for some reason.
It depends on the person, I prefer a same sex pdoc so that there is less tension.
I have a female psychiatrist. Like you said, she has a Mother’s touch and I like it that way. She has a sweetness about her, but will do what’s necessary to save you because she treats you like her children! It’s wonderful!
It doesn’t matter, either one is fine with me. I’ve had several female therapists but I’ve only had one female psychiatrist. She was cute.
I feel.like talking crazy.
I think we should not muix sexes in psych patients and pdocs. I think girls should have female docs and boys male docs.
Cause sometimes you have to tell the doc very intimate things…about your sexual impotent.
Somehow …i cant explain it…but i feel like a very intimate relationship evolves between me and my pdoc. I pour my soul out to her. My whole inside. I cant imagine my doc being a male.
Totally agree. Same gender patient-doctor relationship ought to be a standard norm.
My current pdoc is a female and so was my last one.
I prefer female psychiatrists and vowed never to see a male psychiatrist again.
My first two psychiatrists were men and they were abusive.
Female psychiatrists seem more empathetic towards me.
Although the male psychiatrist in the Hospital was pretty positive.
I have had male and female psychiatrists.
I also think it depends on the person and how you get along .
Some of them took really good care of me when I was really not coping and went mute.etc
My mum made me change from psychiatrist to a clinical psychologist because my mum thinks I am Aspergers autism and that my psychosis was just because I am so sensitive.
Then she arranged for me to meet a psychiatrist that the psychologist works with and to my mothers horror he did not diagnose me with Aspergers but said I have schizophrenia and I do not remember telling him my symptoms even.
I usually groom well for appointments or make sure I showered etc but I remember to this psychiatrist I was wearing dirty clothes with a hole in it.
I truly thought the clothes were clean .
But they were not and I did not notice till I got home.
I’ve only had one psychiatrist and he is male. He knows what he is talking about, but I totally don’t like his setup. The room is bare with just a couch for me to sit in, a chair for him, a TV, and a smaller computer desk. No rug, no pictures. It is really impersonal. That environment makes me feel really nervous.
It’s a typical interview room where the main focus is the psychiatrist asks questions, listens to patient responses, observes body behavior, tone of voice, eye contact etc… a.k.a. in psychology “pick your brain”.
I have two shrinks. One is a male psychiatrist and one is a female nurse practitioner. I have a male psychologist and a female social worker. So I have two males and two females.
Don’t have a preference
I have a female pdoc now. She is a true blessing. She actively listens to my concerns and tries to solve problems. I had a male doctor before her, and he was a pill pusher who asked me “Do you want to go to the hospital?” every time I saw him because- surprise, surprise- he worked most nights at a mental hospital. He was a get 'em in, get 'em out kind, and he would spend all of two minutes with me before pushing me out the door. It was awful. I love my current doctor and am constantly worried that she won’t want to see me anymore over something or other.
male shd go to hell
i prefer male doctor they r the best
i went before to fmle doc she doesnt like medication
her best medication was quetiapine 25 only
my current male doc give me depot and oral
give me potent drugs i feel good
Really! I thought they would try to make you feel a little comfortable or something… My new therapist is like this too (office bare and uninviting). He is in the same office space as my pdoc (same group). I was going to switch to a different therapist because of this. I was also thinking of switching pdocs but I like my pdoc because he knows what he is talking about.
My last pdoc was male and Indian and I loved him. I had him for 21 years. He retired. My present pdoc is male and American and he is awesome. My nurses are all awesome too. They’ve all been female.
Dr. Martini, my favortie pdoc of all time was a man…now I have a female pdoc and we are close…she worries about me…makes me feel good.
I’ve had only two. One in Australia and one in America and both male. I’ve been seeing my Aussie doc since 1993 so almost hit 25 years. He’s very good and been seeing him so long we just have a chat about things and we’re usually done in under 5 minutes. We usually talk about international cricket for most of my visits!
That’s gotta mess with you when you’re phsycotic.
