Depends.

If it’s legit Mac and cheese from scratch, then I choose that.

Otherwise, scalloped potatoes sounds nice.

Depends. Mac and cheese goes nice with smoked ribs. Scalloped potatoes with beef roast. Both is even better.

Depends on the dish it’s being paired with.

I said scalloped potatoes…my mom’s mac and cheese is to die for…I need to learn how to make it…has something to do with making a roux of flour and butter first and then adding milk and cheese for the sauce…

Yezzir.

That’s the OG Mac N Cheese.

I normally add heavy cream instead of milk.

Up until developing vascular dementia my late wife did the cooking. Apart from one dish, mac n cheese. I’m not a natural born cook,as my late wife and my mother were, so I used a recipe from a book I had. I wish I still had that book, but a befriender borrowed it and never gave it back. I’m not going to pretend it was great mac n cheese, but my late wife enjoyed it.
I’ve not made mac n cheese since losing the book. The recipe was simple and easy for me to use.

I like scalloped potatoes, but have never made them for myself. I’m not good at peeling and then slicing potatoes. As things to have on their own mac and cheese edges it for me, but scalloped potatoes with some meat or fish is better than that.
