Lithium dosing question

I’m just taking Lithium 600 mg ER at bedtime. 2 x 300 mg.

What is the normal dosage range? Is there a 600 or 900 mg pill? or Depot?

I want to cut down on the number of pills i’m taking. I may also be a bit hypo-manic, so i am wondering if i should ask for an increase on Monday when i see my pdoc? I’m getting pill fatigue again…

Assuming you weigh at least 30kg or more, you can take 300-600mg 2-3 times per day. In other words, the maximum is 1800mg per day. You need blood draws that show whether or not you’re in a therapeutic range that not too low or high for your body. So for you it could be anywhere from 600mg to 1800mg. Only the blood tests will show what’s best for your body and metabolism

Thank you for the info. I’ve never had a blood test in the year+ i’ve been taking Lithium. I’m definitely more than 30kg

Ask your doctor for one. Blood testing is usually mandatory for lithium

Yeah a blood test tells you the lithium level so you can adjust the dosage to fall within the range. That’s how you know how much to take, it can be charted as you ramp up
