Sheer optimism doesn’t work for me. I can see there has been a vast improvement in myself over the years, but in no way can I compete in the normie work a day world. And at my age, I think it better to call myself retired and rest well with it. I wish I could help you young adults but I can’t. sz is such an individual thing, all of us have to find our own way and find our own mentors.

I’m only 59 and I just call myself retired already. And why not?

It saves on long explanations.
I’m 59 too like @SkinnyMe, and I tell creditors that I’m retired. I tell people on the street I’m disabled or on disability. Credit applications usually don’t have disabled as a choice, so I choose retired and put down my Social Security earnings, even though they are disability payments.
