Cognitive and negative symptoms. I feel like I have mild dementia for real since having sz.
“The idea that schizophrenia is a distinct brain disorder is rooted in Emil Kraepelin’s concept of dementia praecox (Kraepelin 1910). This concept emphasized one particular aspect of the disorder: the onset of persistent cognitive disturbances early in life.”

That was the name of sz when they first discovered it. It affects ppl differently, some have severe cognitive symptoms while others have none. I have moderate cognitive and severe negative symptoms. Sucks.
“Dementia praecox (a “premature dementia” or “precocious madness”) is a disused psychiatric diagnosis that originally designated a chronic, deteriorating psychotic disorder characterized by rapid cognitive disintegration, usually beginning in the late teens or early adulthood. Over the years, the term “dementia praecox” was gradually replaced by “schizophrenia”, which remains in current diagnostic use.”
Because it is work to understand, to grow mentally. And if you don’t want to learn, you won’t. Some families have such secrets that they don’t want their kids to grow to know and understand.
