Is it dangerous at night?

I don’t go out at night because it might be dangerous. I have section 8 housing but it’s an affluent area. I wonder, Am I being too cautious? What is it like in your neck of the woods? Do you go out alone ever or not?

People are out taking their dogs to the small strips of grass to poop and piss but they look scared. I live in the metropolis.

I’m in Little Rock Arkansas if you must know. I was born here and raised here. My psych clinic is in downtown Little Rock. I’m 63 years old now.

A person was killed at my clinic last week. But the stuff I remembering happened a long time ago. When I say the police took care of me they took the man who was pretending to be my grandfather. I was seven years old when that happened. Like the 1960’s.

When I say we in the late 1970’s I’m talking about the LGBTQ community. We got along with the police department back then.

I don’t get outside much unless it’s going somewhere with family. I suppose I’m a bit of recluse.

I know who it is that called the cops but I don’t want to say. This was about the person who was killed last week.

I just go out to take my dog to potty. Last call for her is between 11:30p and 12:30a. I’m not too worried. Plus I have a hefty flashlight and my dog off course. Everyone I’ve run into when it’s dark just compliments my dog our says hey.

I used to go out at night, heck I slept on those streets at night, but ever since I’ve been housed again(the last ten years) I don’t like the nighttime.

IDK, if I have to be somewhere at night I’ll go out. Sometimes I just take drives at night. I think I’m more scared of nighttime than the average person but I still go out.

The man I’m not sure about who was nine years old and straight moved to Fayetteville Arkansas the last I heard of him. I don’t know if cops got involved or were called or what. He’s a veteran and I sold his van after he moved. It was too beat up to make the trip. I have paperwork and check they gave me for it.

I live in a fairly safe kind of blue collar/middle class neighborhood but I still get antsy walking around at night. I think it’s because we had a wave of shootings here a few years ago.

Once in a great while though I’ll walk to grocery store at night and buy some cheap sodas and snacks.

I’ve never really had any problems. I say Hi or “what’s up?” to everyone I walk past too.

I currently live downtown and the serial killer has been stabbing people downtown. I’m happy I have my pepper spray. The guy that moved was abused here, and so was I. I’m still here though.

Anyway I need to finish my apartment for tomorrow’s inspection. He was stabbing people like at 3am to 6am. This was back in 2021 I think. I did ask at my clinic if they would help him. He’s in denial though and doesn’t want help.

That’s good you have the spray.

Also, you might want to look into a basic self defense class. A lot of places like the YMCA offer self defense classes for the elderly and those with limited mobility.

I don’t mean to make you paranoid but if you know how to make someone’s face look like a half eaten pizza it tends to make you feel a tad more confident LOL!

My friend doesn’t match the description of the man the police put out. I don’t know if he did my clinic or not. It could be he’s still in Fayetteville and wasn’t here. I don’t know. I lost touch with him after he moved. After someone found the body I went outside to let them use my phone. Someone had beat me to it and was talking to the police.

I was at an ATM machine at something like 6:42 am and caught the bus to the clinic. There are surveillance pictures of me riding the bus. I was at the clinic at 7:05am because everyone has to sign in with the time arrived. They know where I was. They may not know about being abused when boys.

It’s only dangerous when I go outside

I know. I just got an email to donate red cells again. There’s a sick baby and burn victim. That was last September I donated blood if they want it. I think anyway.

I’m extremely paranoid. When I have to go out at night, I make sure I am armed with an appropriate combat knife. I’ve had a bit of training in knife fighting and I feel confident if I should need to use it. Obviously I would avoid any conflict under any circumstances. But I prefer not to go out at all. In my home fortress I feel safest of all.

My fear system seems to not work like that of others.

I have no fear at all about going out at night. My country is relatively safe. My neighbourhood is not the best though. There’s always boys hanging around at the square, that I need to pass if I go somewhere at night. They drink, and break stuff, and shout at women. Sometimes. With new years eve, they put cameras in our neighbourhood (which isnt normal here). And still boys managed to burn down two scooters. A friend was shocked coming to my neighbourhood, saying he didnt understand why i liked it here. Still not afraid.

I have been afraid of anything and everything. But not that. There’s worse things.

I don’t think so. I’m a chronic insomniac, so I’ve spent a lot of time wandering around at night

I’ve never felt like I’m in danger (at least from other people. Wild animals are another story entirely )

Unfortunately all I have is pepper spray. Not very useful if they come after you with a gun, but here the serial killer stabs people with a knife. The pepper spray would probably be useful for that. Other than the serial killer, my neighborhood is pretty safe. The serial killer has only been killing people between like midnight to 6am, so I stay at home then.
