I believe so, but something tells me when I create art I’m wasting my time because it’s not important. What do you think and why?
To me art is a reflection of one’s inner self. I can see that in my photography. I’m paranoid and depressed sometimes which is reflected in my art, and also that I am joyous about the universe and living in it and that is often represented in it. I also view the universe as a strange place, which is also reflected in it.
What are your opinions?
For those who haven’t seen my art this is some of my work.
I would say it depends on what you value. For many, Science trumps only because it manifests as “real progress” but if it wasn’t for the study of Art, we’d wouldn’t develop our sense of wonder and like for the abstract anywhere near the way we do just looking at numbers or facts.
Personally, I lean towards Science is more important. But that’s because I am more comfortable and curious about the natural world than I am about the abstract world. Keyword being personally, another person, will say the opposite, for the same reason and they aren’t wrong for it
[Art in all its forms has been an integral part of culture and the human experience for thousands of years. It enriches our lives, stimulates our imaginations, and helps us connect with one another on a deeper level. Without art, our world would be void of beauty, creativity, and human expression.]–Gallery MAR
“Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” --Banksy (first said by Cesar Cruz).
My opinion is that science is what gives us a modern quality of life, but art makes it worth living. I use science and art as big umbrella terms, for example I include every aspect of art such as cinema and music.
I liked drawing as a kid, but as I grew up I valued science and rationality over art. I have changed my thinking over the years. My mom is really artsy. She inspires me.
I think both are important now. I lost a lot of rational thinking over the years because of sz.
You have a good eye for art. They say we work mainly out of one side of the brain, and ancient medicine says we need to try to keep a balance.
So it seems art and science are both important in a person.
But a lot gets lost in science. If you look at a beautiful flower, you enjoy its beauty and you feel good, but if you analyze it scientifically, all that inner enjoyment is gone.
