its more to do with how you feel, how you feel corresponds to the emoticon or emoji that you should use.

yes and the emoti in the name stands for emotion so it has a lot to do with how you feel, emoji is different i think, an emoji is not a face i think.

I’m not sure, but I think an emoticon and an emoji are the same thing. It seems the word “emoticon” has evolved into the word “emoji.”

Since we can’t see each other, replies are often misinterpreted, so using an emoji is a great tool to express emotion, which reduces misinterpretations.:relaxed:

Emoji is a bunch of emoticons released as an app for iPhones that became very popular because they were incorporated into the phone keyboard. :heart_eyes::upside_down_face::new_moon_with_face::japanese_goblin: are some emoji examples. (Though sz.com changes them to their emoticons) Since emoji became so popular a lot of people just call all emoticons emojis now, sort of like how everyone calls adhesive bandages bandaids.
