When I was psychotic they used to be deeply intertwined in my delusions.
Now they are just an annoying nuisance. I was just about to fall asleep tonight and all of a sudden “BWAAAAAAA, BWAAAAAAA, BWAA, BWAAAA, BWAAAAA, BWAAAAAA”.
What in the living hell is the darn train having a conniption fit about at freaking midnight?
The train station is north of town across the bridge in my city so theyre just far away enough that it sounds peaceful. Police sirens get to me because I hallucinate police sirens in my positive symptoms
I lived in a small town on a bank of a river. Half way down the bank was a flat area that had railroad tracks. Unlike your experience, I loved to listen to the trains rumble through. There was no need for whistles and horns. They also reminded me of my love of Pullman sleeper cars that I experienced as an infant. Sleeping with the rumble and sway of the train was a real treat.
I can relate, I lived for a while next to some tracks and at 2 in the morning the horn would go off and up I would come out of bed. Scared the hell out of me the first time.
I grew up most of my childhood with the train tracks running 50 yards behind our apartment. We got used to the horns after a few months and for the next 8 years it never really bothered us.
