Do you hear the whistle blow when the train goes by do you hear the sudden Rumble of cars flashing by how far away from the railroad tracks is your house from the tracks can you hear the whistle blow has its leaving town I’d really like to know
I like to hear them in the night.
Two times a day from 5th grade until I was 19. The train tracks were right behind our apartment. When we were kids we would put coins on the track so the train would flatten them. Sometimes we put rocks on the rails. You could put a two headed nail on the tracks and after the train ran over it would look like a scimitar.
The railroad crossed our street and we often got stopped by those wooden gates coming down. They came down 30 seconds before the train actually got there. In sixth grade we discovered we could trip those gates to come down even when there was no train by prying off a little cable on the rails.
I love the sound of trains at night. Has a very peaceful sound to it.
Lived by the tracks at my first apartment. Took a while to get used to the horn at two in the morning.
I heard the trains at night in my last apartment down the hall but not since I moved. It’s a long hallway.
