I'm a food bingaholic

I’m dependant on it to feel a certain way.
Just like an alcoholic

When I don’t do the food overeating I feel sad and weak.
Just a lil vent…

Are you actually hungry when you feel like this or is it just one of those things were you would really enjoy some food right now?

I used to have problems with binge eating. I don’t have them anymore. I’m not sure if it’s because I changed meds or if I trained mysel out of it.

Anyway, this is a MUST READ for binge eaters. https://www.amazon.com/Brain-over-Binge-Conventional-Recovered/dp/0984481702/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=2DPVV9T3FT6X9&keywords=brain+over+binge+book&qid=1554990545&s=gateway&sprefix=brain+over&sr=8-3

And here is the companion manual for the first book. https://www.amazon.com/Rational-Recovery-Cure-Substance-Addiction/dp/0671528580/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=GB1QG5HEK09&keywords=rational+recovery&qid=1554990758&s=gateway&sprefix=ratiobal&sr=8-1

The first book is more important. The second book explains your binge habits in better detail, but is actually a read for alcoholics. The same principals apply to problem drinking as to your binge eating habits.

Yea where I would really enjoy some food right now. And if I don’t I just feel so rubbish. It’s like I’m dependant on over eating to feel good.

You should only eat if you are hungry. It is not good to eat just to feel better emotionally. I would recommend eating six very small meals a day and when you are hungry, drink water. When you eat serve yourself on small plates so psychologically you feel as though you are eating alot.

With respect, I’m not a fan of self deceiving, it only results in OCD,

I hear you. I feel the same way. I also over snack when I get overwhelmed. Bad habit that I need to work on harder.

With respect you need evidence to back up what you are saying. It is what I’ve done for many years and it has helped me lose weight. I have never heard that eating small meals every day and putting the portions on smaller plates leads to OCD. I’ve been doing it for years and as of yet not OCD. Self deceiving doesn’t occur by regulating your portion size. People binge eat for many reasons, and training yourself not to eat when you are feeling stressed or emotional but to eat when you are hungry. I’ve seen lots of people consume food when they are not hungry and that is unhealthy. It’s okay to listen to your body when you are hungry. Eating snack foods like carrots/celery/vegetables or drinking water whenever you feel the need to binge is better than eating junk food. Food is something that must be eaten, but how you eat and what you eat is important. Rant over.

It is true that over-eating is triggered by medication. I have had this problem,. I advise you to binge on healthy foods that have protein in them which will cut down on your cravings like a little cup of yogurt, or a banana or carrot sticks… Sometimes over eating on carbs will make you hungrier for carbs. I’m rooting for you!

I have my philosophy, eat enough till being satisfied and then burn it till the point of death and then full your gasoline tank again, although I choose my food but am not hard headed about it, I don’t want to wrestle with myself of what to eat and when to eat or abstain food all day long,
My mother is somewhat like you so I know what I’m talking about,

However, this difference in philosophy of eating doesn’t cause me to loose the respect about you and shouldn’t cause us not be friends,

The nice thing about eating six small meals is that when you start to get hungry again you can eat again. Every three hours is good. It also keeps your blood sugars more stable. I still have respect for you of course. We can disagree about things but it doesn’t change our friendship. I’m done talking about it. I hope you are well today. Take care of yourself.

Whatever way you choose to remedy this, put your satisfaction in top priority number one. Our bodies sense when we angerly eat carrots instead of carrot cake. I struggle with weight and body issues myself. Two books I recommend are Paul McKenna’s “I Can Make You Thin” and “The 8 Hour diet” Both of these have no calorie counting, restricting of any food, or constant working out regimens. Asian people are notorious eaters who never seem to gain weight (not all. PC) But that just goes to show that the real battle for us obese people is in our minds. I hope this helps.

I think there are a lot of people with this problem.
Good you bring it up.

I have binge eaten and could easily binge eat right now.
I feel like eating eating and eating.
I love :two_hearts: eating.

But I don’t want to be overweight again so I will try to eat sweets yes but not huge amounts and I hope to start the gym.

Wishing you a happy healthy relationship with your food.

I ate normally until my mom got sick when I was in the 8th grade. After that it was anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. I think trauma can trigger eating disorders.

When I was on abilify I binged and vomited almost every night before bed. It was awful
