People abuse it or use it recreationally so I guess the blowback from that doesn’t help us. I never had a problem with my docs but realise with others it can be. Mind you I’ve been off benzos for over ten years now.
Yeah the problem is we are so different in what works for a common problem. Imagine if there was a shot or med that helped 70% of our population. There’s be no more problematic doctors!
Hang in there. Because some people don’t use meds wisely we shouldn’t have to pay but policy is so political and reactionary.
I am on Valium, 2 mg, a day. I had an excess a few months ago because the pharmacy here does that, like give you extras each month so you won’t ever be in danger of not having them. Well, I took several pills and I didn’t get high, I didn’t even get sleepy, so I’d say it’s a safe drug for this addict.
I am prescribed xanax, tried diazepam, clonazepam and another 2 benzoes. I am avoiding benzodiazapines a lot, cause they cause a rebound anxiety when the next dose is up. I take lexapro (ssri) its really good for the anxiety, but difficulty falling asleep on it is a bummer
I think because its highly addictive and bad for the body worse then antipsychotics. I get it though i sometimes have to ask for a small script of it when my panic attacks get more frequent but i wouldnt want to take it every day
But she, my therapist, and my primary all encouraged me to try thc for my anxiety. So, I did. I had to find the right amount because, let me tell you, I made the mistake of using too much once a few days ago and it was absolutely awful for several hours. Horrible akathsia, awful paranoia, and my anxiety just skyrocketed.
@Joker Because it’s not sustainable. Increased exposure would be correlated with addiction. If you are dependant on it to function you are then you’re already in a complex space. The reason is to avoid basically what your experiencing with your doctors because benzos aren’t a long term solution. If was just a short term thing then it wouldn’t really be worth much complaining about. The fact that people have addictions to them and the are useful for medical purposes is a shame. But it’s also not exactly like people with addictions are ruining for people who use them for intended purposes. I think anyone who has taken addictive pharmaceutical medications understand the internal monologue that you have with yourself around your use. This illustrates the problem at its core cutting deals with yourself I will only take x much ect or I need x much.
Basically if you can make a convincing argument for why you need them for medical purposes then your n consideration your doctors would likely listen
I’m having the same problem. I use 4- 6 benzos monthly, i mean that’s not much, but my new pdoc won’t give me any. I use them for my attacks of intrusive thoughts and it’s the only drug that works for that.
As you know i’m going to La Gomera. I wouldn’t travel without having at least three benzoes in case of crisis, and I’m a bit ashamed but I had to buy some from a street pusher, just to be able to realize my trip to La Gomera.
