I’ve only been to the zoo once wen I was 2 and I love animals and I wanna see them up close in person. I also know that some zoos don’t treat their animals well. I’ve done some research, but can’t find enough information about this. Does anyone know any zoos where the animals are treated well, fed natural diets, given sufficient attention, etc?? I really wanna go to the zoo but I don’t want to support a place that isn’t good to their animals
I’ve been to the San Fransisco zoo a dozen times. I was there about 15 years ago checking out the orangatangs in their outdoor enclosure. I was watching one from about 30 feet away and he started getting excited and he picked up some feces and threw at me and hit me in the shoulder. It pi*sed me off but I had to give him some credit for his accuracy.
Hahaha damn that must’ve been gross but I agree, someone should give the little bro a medal for aim
See if there is an AZA accredited https://www.aza.org/about-aza/ zoo nearby.
Not only do they meet your criteria, they help animals in the wild through conservation efforts.
It’s really fun seeing animals up close, but I guess not too close as Nick reminds us.
Thank you! That makes me feel so much better about giving them my business
I’ll check that out right now
When I went to the zoo in Tulsa they had this one jaguar in a little tiny enclosure not big enough for it to take ten steps in. The cat was pacing around the tiny space for as much as he could move. He’d take about three or four steps, change direction, and take about three or four steps the other direction. I knew it had to be going crazy from the confined space. It moved constantly as much as it could. You could tell the cat couldn’t stop pacing back and forth. I knew it had to be going crazy from the confined space.
Yeah see that’s so sad! I would never whana go to a place that did that to the animals
