I think there are different types of honesty. One type is “this is true, and I hope it helps” and another type is “I’m saying true things to hurt others and hide behind the excuse that I was just being honest.”
Just because something is true doesn’t mean it needs to be said. You have to think about the goal you are trying to accomplish with your honesty. Then think about whether that is a worthwhile goal, and whether your brand of honesty will be the best way to accomplish the goal
