I have decided to purchase a 3d printer

There’s two types, resin and filament, I think I’ve decided on the resin one, it gives you more detailed prints, but the downside is that you have to wear a mask and gloves when using it apparently, because it’s toxic, you also have to wash the resin model in alcohol afterwards, and then you have to expose it to UV light. But in return, resin prints faster than filament.

I will, I will research what safety measures I need to take to use it, and then follow that strictly.

I had a filimant one - years ago, bought it off a company in liquidation. Actually made a small profit. Apparantly they are popular among gangs, cos you can 3d print a small firearm lol. :speak_no_evil:

I didnt really have no use for it. Flogged it to some bloke in Canada that wanted his own D+D Figures for his board games.

Expect it to cost you at least a couple of grand for a decent one

I’m tempted to buy a filament one because there’s no safety concerns as far as I’ve gathered. But when I saw the resin/filament comparison on how they handled small detail I was too tempted for the resin one.

I’ve looked into this a lot and I think that a filament printer is a better printer to start with. Printing can be extremely frustrating with resin

How is resin frustrating? I’m curious cause I don’t know everything about it. I’ve research a bit but not gone too much in depth.

The cleanup process is extreme

With the above printer you basically just plug and then print

There’s quite a learning curve when it comes to troubleshooting resin prints as well

Definitely valid points. I can see the pros and cons of each. Resin is also more expensive I believe as filament material is cheaper than resin.

But you get a higher quality result with resin

For just starting I want to get the above printer
I think it just means my models will start larger?

I get why you are attracted to resin given the style of your work though

I need to see more images of filament printed models I think. I need to see if the detail level is enough for me.

I would get the filament one, resin sounds too much of a hassle

Yeah after watching a video on the whole process I’m doubting if it’s the right choice. It’s also more expensive. I think maybe I’m better off buying a high quality filament one.

I’m going with a filament one I think, then maybe resin in the future if I get more into it.

1.25k euro for that model you linked. I’m not sure if I can afford it. Do you know of a good one that|s under 1000 dollars?
