So admittedly I’ve taken sick a few times. Around two weeks ago my manager called me in to say they won’t be renewing my contract sixth time round. The reason she gave is that there’s too many staff. But the thing is she just hired one girl to do the same job as me. So how’s that work? She could have just not hired. I have doubts it’s my illess. And they’re not being straight with me.
Try next job…u are hard working. .
I’m not sure what to say. On one hand I feel like you reasonably bring this up with the employer to see what reaction and response you get. If its not a good one then ask what you did wrong and how you can do better at your next job. Then on the other hand I want to tell you to take it at her word and not to take it personally, its just business. But I know how hard this is to do
I know it’s just business but it feels quite demeaning. She said they are hiring soon. But they are looking to hire permenant staff cos it’s cheaper. But they’ll have to let me go and I can apply when these come out. But yesterday her manager told us these vacancies will be for internal staff. Screw them. I did a great job and they know it. Because my initial contract was actually 3 months it’s lasted 18. Their loss in the end.
I am sorry, I think that’s straight out disability discrimination. I wish there was a federal system in place to investigate these matters, but from what I can tell, the system is cloudy as to where the complaint should go to. I got fired for being disabled a couple of times and it did get me picked up by the department of rehabilitation for vocational training (as my disability impeded my ability to work), but they never looked into filing complaints on my behalf. It would be nice if DOR could investigate claims of discrimination based on disability. I don’t know if they do or not…I’ll go ask! goes to email dor case manager this exact question
The reason I don’t wish to proceed with a case is I need a reference
