It’s for a research study lmao
At my last hospitalization they allowed us 3 cigarettes per day, 1 after each meal. That was if we were participating in groups and taking meds and following rules and not being disruptive, and and and…
Geez mental hospitals are so strict over there.
We get unlimited cigarettes, coffee, internet, phones, etc., even in rehab. They even have back-up cigarettes for us a lot of places in case we run out of our own cigarettes.
What? The hospital supplies your cigarettes?
Yes, but only if we run out of them and then not as many as we want. But it’s your own fault if you run out of them.
Oh sorry that was probably to the OP.
That’s crazy.
I couldn’t smoke, have a phone or anything last time I was in the hospital.
Enjoy that cigarette,
You’re lucky.
I had to bring my own. They are testing my cognition before and after smoking sessions. I’m in a weird ventilated room inside McLean’s
The psych ward i went to was alright, tho its like a soft jail didnt care much for being put in when the weekend started. I wasent allowed to smoke or leave for walks until a doctor issued a yellow armband. The doctors dont come in on the weekends, so i was smoke free for 3 days. Also wasent allowed my phone, so i spent alot of time reading my book, writing and playing solitaire.
Hows it going in there? Youre allowed to smoke inside? Neat
I’m just here for a research study on smoking and schizophrenia. I’m not actually admitted
I’m in for a research study on smoking so I am smoking inside a special ventilated room
I see, do they hook you up to neuro machines for readings? Blood tests?
It’s a combination of legal liability (everyone is worried about ending up on the pointy end of a lawyer) and smoking having become almost completely socially unacceptable in North America in all but the lower classes (those making the rules being in those classes over those who smoke).
Just cognitive tests on a computer and recording my blood pressure
Haha that’s cool @Air! Are you like sitting in front of three doctors With notepads right now? That’s my mental picture.
Just a PhD researcher. Also a cam recorder is watching me the whole time
This is interesting because we have lower smoking rates than the US. I think the US is in general a much more strict place than Northern Europe. Maybe it has something to do with religion.
Making sure you don’t stop smoking that cigarette
I’m now realizing this sounds like a very strange porno
It’s … weird. Smoking is definitely on the way out over here. Employers don’t want to hire smokers because they’re less productive (not to mention hell on health benefits) and the non-smokers hate how smokers cluster around doorways so you get the noxious cloud whenever you enter or leave the building. Everyone also hates the smell of smokers in the workplace (except other smokers). They just smell bad. Of course, now we’re getting that with the pot fiends, a lot of them don’t realize how bad they smell now that they’re becoming common.
Dont start blowing rings of smoke at the camera lol
