I came to the water
And I was silent
And all the walls of the world suddenly softened
And all the sounds dimmed
And the sun and the moon were hanged in the crust of the lake
And they moved as I pleased
Breaking into the snakes of cold light
Dancing like water nymphs
And I plunged into the water
And I am not
Where I was
There they were
Deep and hidden depths
The stars I picked up when I caught the lands
They continued to burn in my hair
And my eyes closed
And darkness came
And cold
And all this became my home
From a white woman
To a black lake

Thanks for the poem. Are the experiences at the lake reflective of getting ill?

Thanks for asking, the black water symbolizes an inward experience, as you close your eyes and let the imagination take you, or dream,
It is a desire to disconnect from this world mentally

I really liked your poem. You’re very talented both as a writer and as a painter.
