I have larger gaps on my resume and I feel like putting away on medical leave is kind like telling them I’m unreliable.
‘I took care of an ill family member’ is a classic one.
Or I took a sabbatical (to travel the world, read, study,…)
I always volunteered or studied so I have something to put on my resumé.
But I say I’m disabled. There is no way in hiding that. And sometimes it even helps to get hired, e.g. for Government jobs.
I’m planning to be self-employed in the future.
I guess technically did take care of myself and I consider myself family.
I said I was sick but am feeling better now and ready to rejoin the workforce. I put a positive spin on it
This was my approach also.
When I go back this time, I will just say “I was home taking care of my kids and now they are adults.”
I’m looking for excuses too even tho the truth is I have cardiomyopathy and I had surgery complications from a eye surgery and was always in pain for 9 years till they were able to fix it idk if I should tell the truth
Maybe if I just skip out of talking about my mental health I want off of disability as I’m not disabled anymore
I’m glad you made this thread because i was gonna make one saved me time lol
I would tell them the truth. If they promote diversity, equity and inclusion then they will be understanding, if not, then OK. I don’t want to work there anyway then.
They should be understanding but at least what I notice that train typically stops with the mentally ill.
i dont have a reseme. im mid 30s and never had a job and i have wondered before how would i ever get one or explain that with that.
time off for personal development or travel or family
my spouse didnt work since the pandemic and also just got a job and it caused him lots of anxiety and when he applied, it was not even an issue.
I would say that you caught the black plague a few times and had to take some time off to pop boils and drain your blood with leaches.
You were applying for the stonemason job in 13th century Europe, right?
No, I was applying for the plague doctor.
