How to stretch your food budget

Food cost for puffed what square is approx $0.15. Food cost for the caramel macchatio is approximately $0.30 (all Canadian). Cost for both at Starbucks would be about $7.50.

Starbucks is for suckers.

I have this espresso maker and don’t need to buy expensive franchise coffee anymore. For making latte, I bought a milk foamer too. image

Buy meat on sale if you eat meat. Potatoes are cheap. Rice is cheap. Spaghetti is a super cheap meal. Only buy as much fresh produce as you will use. Salad in a bag is sometimes cheaper because it lasts a few days other than buying all the ingredients and throwing out half. I try to have 4 good meals a week 2 quick meals and one take out.

I buy my shopping online, which I think helps as you don’t end up coming home with loads of random stuff you happened to walk past.

The minimum for free delivery is £40, so I stock up on things that are on promotion.

If you buy three or four of the same thing, I find that by time you use it all up it’s generally on a price cut again - or something similar is.

I’ve been eating a lot of cereal to better control what I eat in the hopes of losing weight.
The warehouse stores have really good deals on bulk cereal.

This is a really worthwhile thread! Well done one and all of you!

It’s down to just Dad and I so I cook and he cleans. It’s a good setup. Trouble is that dad is a boring foodie. Honestly. I could feed him steak, chips and salad everyday of the week and he’s happy. He’s also against anything different. It’s very anxietal but I have to live with it!

When mum was around we’d eat cheap. We still do but it’s more bland. I miss pasta and mince even but it’s just too hard to cook several meals a night!

Keep on cooking peeps!
