I wish my English level was above B2 “upper intermediate”
You can take the IELTS. It’s an English test exam that measures your level of English. I had to take it back in the day.
I dont know where I can take such a test?
You’ll have to Google if there’s a test center near you. I had to go to the British Council in Brussels to take the exam. I also took it in Singapore when I wanted to go to Business School.
There are test centers all over the world. So I would assume there’s also one in Helsinki.
I dont live in Helsinki ![]()
Is there a local language school in your town that offers English classes? That may be a great way to improve your English, get certified and being able to make longer posts on this forum.
They teach English in high school/upper secondary school but I am on sick leave
Mmh. That sucks. Do you already know when you can go back? In the meantime you can practice your English here online. Try creating longer responses with connectors like but, however, nevertheless, consequently, due to, pertaining to, first, second, finally,… Using connectors can help you express yourself more complexly. It’s more valuable in more formal writing contexts and this forum is informal, but you could try here and there.
I can go back in August I guess
Want to improve your English…
-
Read a dictionary for improved vocabulary.
-
Read The MLA Handbook to learn how to use your new vocabulary and practice by writing.
What is the MLA handbook?
MLA = Modern Language Association
A book on how to write (and thus improve your English) used by writers and researchers/scholars.
See that link I sent in my last post.
