I was raised by my dad. How often should I clean my house?
Clean it when it’s too dirty. You don’t have to follow other people’s standards. If it’s not very dirty, you’re fine health-wise.
If you can, pick up as you go.
My rule is once per month. I like things clean I guess.
Depends on what it is. A quick straighten daily. Just to pick up clutter each day will really lighten your load.
Dishes daily if you don’t wash when you use. I have to do that multiple times a day when the kids are home on weekends.
Bathroom- once a week. Keep wipes in there and do a quick wipe anytime you see smutz on the sink or toilet.
Vacuum- once a week or more if dirty.
Kitchen - good wipe down and straighten once a week. Clear clutter daily and wipe spills up as they happen to avoid gunky junk.
Stove- clean monthly. Do it less by lining the bottom with foil. Put foil under but Wes and uber the good to catch mess. Replace monthly or less if not too dirty.
Bedroom- put away clothes in hampers or closet as they get dirty. Do laundry once a week or more often if you need. Always put clothes away after drying or it will back up.
Trying to do a little each day keeps you from having huge messes build up and needing to do binge cleaning.
We won’t talk about my house now.
I agree. I think once a month is ok. but you got to clean the kitchen daily. don’t want food laying around for mice or attracting bugs. I keep my mess to my room and keep a pretty clean area in the house. just once a month I fold my laundry and put it away, sweep the floors and clean the bathroom. honestly I try to clean a little as I go, but I make a day of it once a month.
I have to clean every day…like sweeping and dishes.
Bathrooms maybe once a week.
I’d say whenever you notice it’s getting dirty. It’s probably more or less often for different people.
I agree with @anon4362788
I try to keep the kitchen and living room tidy but my bedroom is terrible. And i don’t vacuum nearly enough
I try to pick up after myself as i go.
Everytime, right after you clean mine
I clean once a week but I just vacuum, sweep and mop the floors and wipe down the toilet.
I do the dishes daily.
I do not wipe down benches weekly.
The microwave is pretty dirty now so I plan on giving it a wipe down.
I cleaned for people that had there place cleaned once a fortnight but dusting was included and their home is (was) so clean and no dust onornaments.
I like the sound of @anon4362788’s cleaning schedule. I think completing activities at least once per week is sure to keep your house in good condition.
I’d say to have everyone in the household clean up after themselves and that’s half the battle and that’s how you stay on top of things. Make a rule: You make a mess, you clean it up immediately. It’s just a good habit for everyone to get into.
Stuff like scrubbing a bathroom would be preferably done once a week for sanitary reasons.
IDK. It’s just a matter of preference and how clean you want it. You can skate by and just clean your kitchen or living room or bedroom when it’s obviously dirty or wait until it gets so gross that you can’t stand it anymore and then clean it. Or instead, set a timetable to do those once a week.
I don’t have a certain day to clean. Right now I am living in an apartment alone (and I’m digging living alone) and I clean at night when I feel like it. But my preference is to do things before they get bad and out of control.
So I vacuum often, I dust the living room coffee tables frequently. I have a small bathroom so it’s easy to clean and doesn’t take much time. The living room has only two chores to do : Vacuum and dust tables. If I feel like getting ambitious I will wipe the one window sill or wipe the light switches. But those can go months without getting dirty.
It just depends on you and how big your house is and how clean you desire it to be. If you struggle with motivation issues then instead of doing things once a week stretch it out to every ten days. Or even two weeks.
Or maybe alternate the tougher jobs like cleaning the oven and sweeping and mopping so one week you scrub the oven and the next week you clean the floors and just alternate each week between the two.
When you finish something put it away then you never have to clean
How often should I clean my one bedroom, one bath apartment? I haven’t cleaned it once since i moved in four months ago. Really. I finally got all the boxes unpacked a couple of days ago though.
There’s a website www.flylady.net where she gives tips on cleaning and she helps motivate you to do it
Thanks. I literally never clean my house. I cleaned it though the other day
