Although I was diagnosed probably 6 or 7 years ago.
I started having symptoms in my late 20ās back in the late 1980ās I wasnāt diagnosed until 1995 I think. So itās been decades. I was really out of it when I was diagnosed. I went to see the psychiatrist at my momās insistance.
I always wonder what the deal is on how old you were when you came down with Sz. I know the doctors ask you this. I really didnāt worry about my age when I was diagnosed though.
I started having symptoms at 6 years old. I had my first psychotic break at age 23 in 1983. But I wasnāt diagnosed sza until 1993 at age 33.
Your an optimistic newbie arenāt you? Hereās some advice. Get the schizophrenia down to where you are comfortable and donāt expect miracles. And then focus on everything else. In most cases schizophrenia is forever.

I showed very small signs of it as a child. The symptoms started getting much, much worse around age 24. Three bad things happened that made things go downhill. I accepted the bad things, but the illness never left. I donāt know why. Iām 47 now, and still suffering. Meds take the edge off the worst of it. Iām lucky I can live on my own. Iām not the best at cooking though.

I first went psychotic 23 years agoā¦at age 28. now I am 51. The first years were tryingā¦but I switched meds when I was 32 and since then I am pretty stable and functional

Since 1991 when I was 35. So thirty years. My mother was around the same age when she was diagnosed.
so far for half my life/16 years old was when I got the diagnosis.
