Also wondering is it possible to have PTSD about your delusions?
PTSD is related to real life experiences like rape and other crimes, not to delusions and hallucinations.
I suffered childhood abuse when I was younger. I was diagnosed with PTSD when I was around 14 years old.
I had acute stress disorder but it never morphed into PTSD. My mom has PTSD from a car accident. I also had severe, chronic, and permanent DP/DR where I could see myself from 3rd person and reality didn’t feel real and looked and felt like a crappy, low quality video game.
Negative and cognitive symptoms reduce the effect of PTSD as flat and blunted affect makes it hard to feel emotions even though you have the memory. So if you are experiencing PTSD symptoms without any reduction then its likely you have only PTSD or have PTSD and schizo with positive symptoms only.
It takes a near death experience. Can be witness to some too.
Yes, you can have ptsd caused by your psychosis I forget the specific name of it but it is something simple like psychosis related ptsd. Unfortunately many mental health professionals are unaware of how deeply traumatizing psychosis can be. It took me years before I was officially diagnosed. Professional after professional would tell me that I had symptoms of having undergone severe trauma but were confused when I told them I had never been abused or anything like that.
The thing is I HAD been abused, but it was psychosis so in their eyes it “didn’t count”. More professionals need to be educated on psychosis related ptsd.
I did a poll on here once asking who if anyone had felt traumatized by their psychosis and the responses were overwhelmingly in the yes portion, I think like 84% or something I can’t remember. You are not alone.
Here is one article on it https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://www.easacommunity.org/files/The%20trauma%20of%20first%20episode%20psychosis.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjw4OHF4PHpAhVEHc0KHbn8AB04ChAWMAl6BAgDEAE&usg=AOvVaw0wHnf-YBqmNGxauOlmT2PI
And another
