I am “crunk” right now. and i notice i have the fewest symptoms when i am on anything that rids me of anxiety.
so my question? are we Sz? Or just having OCD thoughts that have gotten so out of hand that some of our minds begin to actually hear and see things that are not there because of obsessive thoughts about things such as religion, the government, paranoia, and about how others see us… etc??? i have been reading lately that all mental illness may really be a form of PTSD what do you think?
I can see you’re on a quest to understand the causes of schizophrenia, but unfortunately nobody knows what actually causes it. People aren’t even sure how anti psychotics work.
Also, the advice people tend to give others here on the forum is not to get caught up in diagnosis (ocd / schizophrenia / whatever ) and just concentrate on the symptoms.
My current psychiatrist thinks that I was misdiagnosed with schizoaffective in the past because of my OCD - I am starting to believe her on this.
OCD symptoms - Obsessive thinking - Intrusive Images/ Fears - contamination paranoia can all mimic SZ like symptoms.
In my case - Bipolar Disorder with Psychotic features + OCD tends to resemble schizoaffective disorder according to my pdoc. I do think that she is on to something.
It is not the same with everyone, everyone is different - today lots of pdocs tend to treat individual symptoms as they present themselves anyway - at least the good ones do
