Its risky especially if the person is out of touch with reality, incoherent and violent. Sometimes involuntary hospitalization is necessary.

Be there to listen. Seek to understand them rather than to be understood

try to be patient

know they are not in their right state of mind

give them options like meds, call crisis, go to hospital, if day hours call dr or treatment team

When my brother got sz a year back, I was all ready to help him. Turns out he takes everything I say and weaves it into his alternate reality where his family are all evil people who have done horrible things. I can’t even talk to him anymore or he just gets angry at me.

I’ll tell you what I could do to help and that would be to tie him up and force meds down his throat every night for a year. He’d be at least partially recovered if I could do that, but obviously that’s not an option.

To ask may be the very first step. Or the second, depends what shoe I guess or well, a new journey once more.

personally, my mom has always helped me,
and my adult daughter.
they decide if I should go to the ER or not.
depends upon bad the paranoia is,
sometimes anger.
haven’t had an episode in quite awhile.
hope you’re okay.

Offer to bring them to get help from a professional! It’s good to do.

Don’t contradict them. Just remain silent it works better than trying to convince them they’re delusional.
