Hoarding food. I have this problem

Before I moved into foster care at 9 we didnt have much food. I remember in foster care I used to sneak and hide food out the cupboards and hide it in my bedroom so it’s defiantly ingrained into me about hoarding food. I always have to have a 4 drawer freezer and cupboards full of food. I get really anxious if I think I’m running out of food. Once a month me and my staff go through everything and I always end up throwing loads of out to date food out. Then I do another big shop. It is a problem.

Are you the same?

You’ll be well equipped in case of a natural disaster or war.

I don’t do the shopping anymore, so it’s not something that I have to think about.

That’s understandable.

Maybe you can give out of date good to a local food pantry instead of throwing it.

Out of date good can often be used a bit over date stated and many pantries have out of date food.

Hope you will have plenty of good good to eat the rest of your life.:slightly_smiling_face:

My elderly father is kind of a food hoarder.
He keeps food in his refrigerator for weeks.

I have to remind him all the time to throw away expired food.

He lived through WW2 so it kind of makes sense

Wow I wish I had that luxury. I only stay stocked with 3 or 4 items to eat and I have to go back to the store like every 4 days. I’m never hungry but I’m often starved for variety.

I live with a few other people though so I don’t have a lot of space for food storage.
