A dead battery in my car; I think I’ve had better gifts before.
I was at work today and I ate lunch in my car and when I went back to work I left the keys in the ignition. When I got off work at 4:00 pm I discovered what I had done, the battery was dead.
I called my roadside assistance service and they told me the next available guy would be available to give me a jumpstart at 5:30 pm. So I sat in my car in the parking lot with no radio and no jacket as it got darker and colder and most of the office workers had left. He finally got there but he almost couldn’t get in the gates.
Anyways, the guy finally helped me but man, it was not how I wanted to spend the evening especially because I hit heavy traffic on the way home.
That sucks, one time the lock shattered because of how cold it was. It took a couple hours of sitting on the steps waiting for the locksmith. It was minus 40 that day, around that temperature anyways. I remember using my backpack to try warm my legs, was only wearing jeans lol
Ive been thinking of packing those hand warmers in my pockets when i leave the house. Maybe putting some in my parents cars for them with a blanket, just in case you know?
Thats good that you got through it though, some viking stuff👍
Are WV people the only ones who carry jumper cables? Could you not have gotten a jump from a coworker? In WV if a good ole boy has a truck he has jumper cables. I’m not putting you down. I just don’t understand
Mate. Feel your pain. Batteries going really does suck and most ones these days aren’t as easy to maintain and die quickly. I just paid about $750 over the last month on my car. Rego and maintenance and I got one job done for nothing. Bloody cars chew money but it sure is good to have some wheels.
Yeah, that’s an understatement, lol. I put quite a chunk of money into this car already but it beats taking the bus like I did for 7 years in my thirties.
I caught the train for a couple of years. No radio. No traffic but stuck on a narrow gauge railway ( less room) with sketchier people than me. Car 45 minutes good. An hour bad.
Train 1 hour and a half minimum during peak hour where I’m standing more than not…I’d rather pay that car tax.
I’m in WI and have jumpers in my van, and a cig lighterbplug in air compressor for flats in my trunk. We have a battery charger in the garage, so if it gets below 20 degrees unhook it up to my van, because no matter how new the stupid battery is, I always have a dead one. Which reminds me, Wednesday I gotta hook it up so I can use it Thursday, lol. I unfortunately also only have 1/4 a tank of gas, so really gotta be sure the old girl starts since Thursday incandescent put gas in her. Hubby’s car is a 2014, my van is a 2005. Even his car won’t start in winter with less than 1/3 a tank in WI winters. We have that red bottle of IsoHeat we put in with gas too, when it can be found. ■■■■’s like rare around here, they stock it in October, but I swear stores get one shipment, and you’re SOL. I think I may have to trade my firstborn for a few bottles, lol.
