Black sandals would go well with the polka dots dress. If you wanted a bit of a vintage twist to it, I’d say maybe some red ones with a red handbag or clutch
.
Either way, that’s a super cute dress!

I totally have a red purse!!! I haven’t even taken the tags off of it yet! I’m leaning towards black sandals with red nail polish, though. I don’t want to buy shoes if I don’t have to. But the polka dots for rehearsal dinner since that will be inside (no stickers or dirt in sandals), then maroon dress for ceremony. I may have to get my tailor to stitch the top close at a decent level. Don’t want to show off the girls.
Oh! I have a silver heart necklace with red enamel on it that is kind of smaller/ shorter chain, and I think it’d work with that, too.
These look great. I like the polka dots too. And you and husband look cute in your own wedding pic. You had a free wedding service because they were worried about the living together… ? ![]()
My parents married at 20/22 y/o, before living together…not because they cared much…or my grandparents cared much…but family offered to finance part of their house if they skipped the living together unmarried part.
We married when I was 18. My parents couldn’t afford the wedding, and they couldn’t afford a house for themselves, let alone us! We basically just had a little service in the church, then a pretty reception. Our cake was from the local grocery store (but pretty and delicious!). People from the church treated it like a potluck and just brought in food. They weren’t asked to or anything, they just… did. So it was weird. Such a Southern kind of thing. “Let’s bring a casserole to that wedding we’re going to.” lol
That actually sounds really sweet (sorry it was so poor though). If I ever have a marriage, I’ll have such a one. I like it better than the luxurous and polished things we have here. Often. I love that you married so young too.
I didn’t think of it as poor. lol. That was actually a nice one compared to some others that I’d seen. I’m very happy it turned out like it did. It was fun.
Oh yeah not the wedding itself…that sounded great, and you two looked great too. But you said your parents couldn’t afford a house…
Yep. Grew up Section 8 with a single mom.
Hey y’all, I’m having earring issues. My tiny pearls won’t go with the necklace I’m leaning towards. I’m going to post the pearls (I don’t have a matching necklace), the necklace (I do have both the pink and red in the photo), and possible earrings to go with the necklace. Would appreciate jewelry input.
I’m real bad with this, don’t trust me. But I’d say the red necklace with the red/silver earrings, not the pearls.
I’m going with the pearls. Silver bracelet, and possibly a small new drop pearl necklace. Otherwise, possibly too much red.
That sounds lovely too. I like the pearls. With a bracelet, I think it is fine. And if you find a necklace that is perfect…but not necessary if you have the bracelet. I think. But again: I suck at jewelry and accessories…I can’t tolerate such stuff on me.
I’m not the best judge either. I often forget to put jewelry on. If I take off my med alert charm, I may go weeks without it. I only remember when I am standing in front of my dresser and notice my jewelry box. Otherwise…
