I am trying to make a so called recovery.
I play chess on lichess, rapid chess, 20 minutes per player.
My rating is currently about 1650.
It is an awesome rating for a player who is essentially not trained at all.
I am going to try to train and improve.
I have the feeling that with training and with full realization of my potential, I can be a great player.
Maybe not a master(rating 2300+) but at least a strong amateur( say 1900-2000).
Further, I usually train many hours a day at a health club.
Today specifically I did not do it.
I prefer to stay off the psychiatric system for it lowers my chances of recovery.
i’ve got a really low rating atm lol, 850 ish lost loads of games bc my heads been mush, a 10 yr old beat me in 3 moves on Sat after a girl beat me lol, it was just a bit of fun though.
Those are great goals. Chess can be fun. I think I’m horrible. I lose to the computer most of the time even on easy mode. It’s a wonderful sign that you are good. It shows good spatial thinking and good logical skills. In the past I wanted to take up chess, it seems easy when you play easy or inexperienced players, but I know no moves or strategies. Thus I can be beat by a decent player in a couple moves.
I played chess in high school a couple times and beat the smartest kid in our algebra class and our teacher a couple times. This is coming from someone who just showed up…I don’t think they knew how to play.
I feel like chess wouldn’t make me any money so I’m going to be reviewing calculus and programming. I’m 29 and need a job and money. Chess should be viewed as a game/hobby unless you are a master at it and can make money…just my opinion.
I would have become a pro chess player if computer opponents weren’t a thing. It’s a lost cause for humanity now I feel! My best match was drawing a 2300 player in a tournament.
It’s still a great pastime, but if there’s no potential to be the best, my vanity gets affected.
its ironic that you have one thread saying hello and another basically trying to leave, yeah that makes sense lol.
i play on chess.com, i use to enjoy the 4player chess on that but i’m a bit scared to do that atm bc my heads been in the clouds lol, i’m trying to improve though
In the past I used to be interested in playing chess too, but now I have no concentration to play chess. Maybe you can join your local chess club, would be a way to create new relations too. I sounds that you are very good in chess.
I love playing chess with my partner. I usually beat him. But haven’t played in a while and certainly not competitively. Good for you though. That sounds like a good score.
@Chess24 maybe you can combine your interests in chess and mathematics and study game theory, it is an interesting field and might help you in your efforts to achive the PhD in mathematics, there are many game theory books that might be interesting, you may find some on the net too.
