Heart problems

I saw my pdoc yesterday. They always take your weight, temperature, pulse, and blood pressure at my clinic before you see your pdoc. Well, my blood pressure was 140/100 and my resting pulse was 90. My typical BP prior to yesterday was about 100/60 and my pulse usually runs in the 60s. The pulse is no big deal but that’s a really high BP. I also developed petechiae all around my eyes and forehead, which are little red splotches from burst capillaries. I’m scheduled for an EKG today and was told to purchase a home blood pressure machine to monitor it 4 times a day.
My pdoc doesn’t know what’s causing this. She’s concerned that the QTc prolongation is happening again on the Zyprexa even tho it’s not common on that med. If my BP remains elevated or my EKG is abnormal i will be referred back to the cardiologist. I am SO over this crap! I wonder if it’s the meds or just me getting old…idk. i just hope the petechiae go away cuz i look like a raccoon!

Im sorry your going through heart issues. I got tachycardia from Clozapine that has not gone away even though I switched meds. I have to take metropolol a beta blocker to treat it. I hope you don’t have to be reliant on heart meds like me. Best wishes and prayers.

That’s very frustrating. The BP is high but not extremely high. Still, it’s good you’re getting a work up to make sure you’re ok. I think an at home BP monitor is a great idea. Then you’ll know if it really is too high on average.
