Hearing voices but happy with life

Hi, I’m new to this group…for the last 4 yr I have been hearing voices all day n night. But I have a job and a somewhat normal life. 4 yrs ago i tried to commit suicide and was in the hospital for a month or so. I was panariod and depressed. Now I’m in a good place mental and would like to stay this way.
I don’t take any medicine right now but going back to the doctor for them. Any suggestions on meds

Well Abilify is a popular one to start off with as clinically it’s supposed to have the least side effects.

Abilify made my tongue fat and I wasn’t able to articulate some letters  very uncomfortable

Just try

Oh yeah it gave me a bajillion bad side effects but apparently for the majority of people tested on it it had the least/most mild side effects. Just not in our case it seems

I say start with the older generics and work your way to the more expensive ones. That’s how we buy most everything. I take haldol because it’s about $30 a month cash with no insurance. It works fine and there is peace in having an affordable med. Takes the stress of worrying about loosing your insurance away.

My advice is for you to carefully explain your symptoms to your doctor. They will likely prescribe you something they think is best for your personal case but remember, sometimes it takes time to find the right treatment, try not to give up on taking meds even if you feel it isn’t the right one, it’s better to alert your doctor and to work together to find what is best for you. That being said, I take Abilify and it does me well for the most part.

I take Risperidone and it has kept me out of the hospital for over a year now. I was considering trying Geodon but I don’t have any experience with it.
