It’s always a harsh headache. No idea why I get days like this.
Is excessive thirst a sign of diabetes?
A google search suggests yes, My blood sugar has been in the low/mid 5s most of the time, Reached 6 once,
No doctor but I think 5-6 is fine. Are you on lithium? That can make you thirsty.
Don’t drink too much.
Way to scare the man.
Extreme thirst and headache could also be a sign you let yourself get dehydrated. Had you been drinking enough water prior to the onset of the headache?
Haven’t been on ;lithium since 2002.
Here are fasting blood glucose ranges: Fasting test results
The results of a fasting test with respect to glucose levels in the body are as follows:
Normal: 3.9 to 5.5 mmols/l (70 to 100 mg/dl)
Prediabetes or Impaired Glucose Tolerance: 5.6 to 7.0 mmol/l (101 to 126 mg/dl)
Diagnosis of diabetes: more than 7.0 mmol/l (126 mg/dl)

So I have veered between high end of normal and low end of prediabetes/impaired glucose tolerance.
The thirst and headache isn’t a constant thing but has happened on and off for years so maybe I have erratic blood sugar levels.
Normally excessive thirst is something that’s considered serious. If you look at the spec sheet for your anti psychotic it will probably say consult your doctor if you experience this, probably because of the diabetes thing though.
Is it actually excessive thirst or just a dry mouth?
The thirst and headache seemed to have kicked off an hour or so after getting up and having a weetabix on the go(cereal based breakfast drink). Prior to that I had had a glass of squash on first getting up and had had a drink of water in the night. Poor intake of fluids has been mentioned in the past(apparently they can tell when they give you your injection) . I am prone to dry skin and have a large dry patch on my chest. However I don’t think it’s been the case today as I have drunk quite a lot in a vain attempt to quench my thirst.
I wouldn’t say it’s a dry mouth. It causes a little nausea which goes temporarily after I have had a drink (not alcohol!)
So as we are all qualified doctors we all know that on-line diagnosis are useless. So @firemonkey see your health care professional asap.
I was just expressing something I experience from time to time. It might have been something others experience too .
I’ll know better than to say how I’m feeling in the future .
I get migraines when I’m tired or dehydrated. Excedrin helps to clear them right up. My mom doesn’t like it because she says it makes her loopy. It made me loopy the first time I took it but it never did again.
I don’t discount dehydration based on things several nurses have said( although I am sure I have drunk plenty in an attempt to quench my thirst.)
The thing is you hear of people with schizophrenia etc drinking too much but you rarely hear of the opposite. Yet occur it must- an area of self neglect? It’s definitely a long term intermittent problem with me ie thirst/headaches/and nausea . If due to dehydration I guess I’m not good at taking in adequate fluids despite advice to do so.
Dehydration can be a side effect of antipsychotics but if it’s dehydration then It also occurred when I was on lithium but not an antipsychotic.
You’re just remembering falling on the stone floor of the hospital when you were born. Doctors don’t play catch well.
That’s cryptic even by your standards of creative thinking.
Try massaging your scalp.
I did try that. Sometimes, not always,it works with a headache.
