Have you noticed people catching Covid-19 recently are getting severely ill?

I have had a few extended family members and mental health workers catch Covid-19 recently, and I must say, I have noticed their symptoms have been really really bad - despite having all their vaccines

Know it’s only anecdotal, but anyone else noticed this?

Fearing that the eye off the ball, and we can sleep walk into a terrible situation

We can’t let the vaccines make this fall into short-term memory territory

Hope those in charge are still keeping an eye on, and testing for new variants of Covid

Not seen the type of fanfare around discovering these things recently.

I am worried about it

There are many people here and elsewhere who’ll be paying the price if we let this fall by the wayside

Not saying I expect everyone to live in isolation for the rest of their lives, but we can’t afford to be complacent either

I’ve noticed that there is an increase in hospitalizations in Belgium. But not many people are dying like in the beginning days of Covid.

I don’t think there will be a new lockdown though.

I literally just watched this video on long COVID. I think you’re talking about the initial infection, right? I don’t have much to say about the initial infection, but long COVID seems to be a big problem. I mean both are a big problem, but I think people are starting to realize how COVID infection can permanently change your health for the worst.

You just don’t hear about it over here anymore. It was there. Important and not even sure anyone cares. I’ve just booked us- dad and I- to get our second booster on tuesday. We got covid in July and had to wait three months but have been a bit neglectful about it all.

We really should be caring more and getting the updates on the health stats.

Yea, and some of them it’s re-infection

My niece has long covid, and is undergoing lots of tests, as she is not right any more

She’s only 12 :frowning:

I take a dislike to the medias coverage as it’s very ‘short-termism’

Fear that because the narrative has shifted away from it, people might not be made aware of important things

Then suddenly, we could get the headline about a new variant - but by then it might be seeded in the population

It would be too late to do anything if that happens…

Not trying to scare people, but I am genuinely worried about people

I’m sorry about your niece. I don’t know much about long Covid but it sounds bad.

I still read news articles about the stats. It seems that Covid keeps coming in (small) waves. It’s winter time so there are many other lung diseases spiking right now.

Yeah agree totally. It was huge 2 years ago. It’s still huge now. My skepticism says they want to burn the omicron through the community so help the herd immunity but the countries that did that like Sweden you don’t hear any updates on how that worked out. I would suspect it was shite.

It’s a weird world these days.

Between covid, flu, and RSV, alot of people are getting sick right now.

I got covid 2 months ago. Was a rough week, and i had a bit of a wheeze for like 6 weeks.

I read some articles on how we are nieve to think covid will “fizzle out” and get weaker. It actually could mutate and get worse. Just cant predict the future though.

Only difference is most of the world has decided to continue on and no longer use the strict lockdown or mask mandated procedures.

Personally I wish the mask mandate would happen again. Too many diseases going on at once nowadays

People at work have gotten it and they’re back to work in a few days. One woman had symptoms for a while.
