I’m now in the process of lowering my dosage of Risperdal Consta from 37.5 mg to 0 mg. I’m on 25 mg at the moment and so far so good.
I’m developing several alarming positive symptoms but nothing really bothersome so, I’m going to continue on with the downward titration.
What’s got me excited is, as a result of the lowered dosage, I got a couple of unsolicited compliments on my piano playing from a couple of very tough, musician critics today. That just made my day, month, and new year!
Lion’s mane mushroom supplement. It allows me to get by on half or less of my normal AP dose. Also helps with pain from nerve injuries.
I buy six at a time.
Yes I’ve tried plenty of times to lower my AP s but 99.9% of the time it was NOT a good idea and I often landed in hospital or at least in a severe crisis
When you went from 37.5 to 25, you had alarming positive symptoms?
I lowered the dose of risperidone I was taking once. Risperidone was the most effective med for my positives but I couldn’t sit still on it.
Same for me and I tried Zyprexa, Abilify, Latuda and Risperidone.
Last time I stopped meds it took me 2yrs to need hospitalization but I had symptoms long before that, they got worse with time.
Did you regress when you lowered dose of risperidone?
I only lowered it from 4mg to 3mg I didn’t get any positives.
So you were fine
Alarming, yes, but ultimately not bothersome, so, I’m going to continue on with my med lowering.
I’m down to 25 mg Seroquel now. 0 in a few days.
It should only be attempted with a doctor and responsibly but we shouldn’t scare people away from doing it either.
What alarming symptoms are you experiencing?
According to my pdoc last time, if autism, yes. Schizo, no unless you cross taper.
However, I don’t cope well with stress.
That’s the important bit. Going off meds with proper medical oversight is also okay, it’s when people mess around on their own that the trouble begins.
@LionDen Walking into Walmart and feeling like everything and everyone in the store is closing in on me and attacking me.
Seeing water everywhere in a garage. The person with me didn’t see any water anywhere.
Thinking that my S.O. is a vampire because she likes to keep the lights off in her house, she stays up all night, sleeps all day, and always wears black. Besides, she looks like a vampire.
Hearing gibberish voices and music, sometimes loud, sometimes faint, almost every day.
These are just a few.
