Has anyone watched the movie Roots?

How important do you think it is to stick to what you believe in? Or do you think is better to go along with authority so that you might live in peace.

If you watch the clip, do you also have a breaking point, where you cant take anymore?

Im thinking in relation to the stigma and sometimes harsh treatment of psychiatric diagnose, or just in general?

I watched the miniseries when I was a child. I remember it being rather disturbing. I have the book by Haley, never read it though.

I watched the chappelle show parody of it

yes fifteen characters

Yeah I watched it along time ago when I was in secondary school. I’d like to watch roots again.

You can keep your spirit sometimes if you keep quiet. Rest is avoidance of the wealthy and thugs in your area. If you see something you don’t want to deal with, leave quietly with some kind of excuse, then avoid them.

-----------------Sums up mental care-----------------------
You know this is said anonymously as I watched a local lady married to a shrink get locked in hospital for months for calling him a crook, child custody threatened if she wanted to persist with crazy.

My inlaws worked in psych as ARNP, even teaching it.

SHE TRASHED ME when I needed help with PTSD that allowed to become nervous break. This is common to this areas as it covers up some sex abuse that takes place…Mental care here has history of refusing to discuss any way to keep the patient okay and really just tear the poor woman to bits, for years if she had health insurance. Remember, this is policy, especially refusal to discuss any coping information to deal with crazy strangers (social problems) so only thing we can do for ourselves is not get angry with the mental care so we don’t end up getting an ā€˜attitude adjustment’ weekend in mental hospital at our own expense.

When I went paranoid schizo, because I told off the sex abuser family who caused me PTSD, my in-law actually heckled me and refused to even give me advice…

So much for 12 years of full-time employment supporting myself, Bachelor’s degree and owned my own place…got by on my retirement money after the break…

-------------Who follow orders-----------------

My city has victims of the sex abusers, some of whom do not follow orders from voices, ones who stayed got treated savagely by the sex abusers…rest are victims of different wealthy thugs who are slaves and some follow directions to terminate their own family. We also have churches stalking people on SSDI after mental care like it is ethical issue harassing them about stealing…these usually never worked a job where they could support themselves and just bother people instead of improving themselves to make more money.

I do not have to follow orders from the voices – 1. Victims of nutcases (like the sex abusers) do not follow orders from voices sometimes, we just keep quiet and get called names for a few months, someone will tell those hecklers we are different and just leave it. Would never bother responding to voices except at work, I just explain I hear something else… 2. I am college educated and work in office some. Speaking up on your own could get you harmed, I’ve seen it here when something wrong came in with one of the new churches. Some offices have a POS messing people up or one of the workers is an aggressive, he leads if there is a hunt and rest just keep working or go to bathroom break during ā€˜his projects’.

(I’ve heard a few new things mentally in last couple years after moving around and also finding wrong employer who was harming people with mental abuse. I find it serves my situation best if I just refuse to follow any orders from voices. As you move around, you will meet different thugs and mobsters doing stuff to the locals so you will probably need to change policy later.)

Some cities have segregated populations of wealthies who work white collar or management and do not hear the voices much, never follow orders at work unless it it initiated by an office thugs, some cities have too few of these sane ones left to runs things and try to lure out of towners and foreigners to work. The other class is frequent psychotics who are forced into fast food work or end up as drug dealers because they could not get by, sometimes factories won’t even hire these. Some tried to leave this kind of situation by military service and ended up being killed first…Problem comes if you meet the wrong people in this kind of city and end up hearing the voices for a while, as you can be cast out of the lot who can afford to pay their own bills and subjected to a ton of threats as there are few who get disability pay due to mental problems in this kind of place, it could get you burned out or killed.

I have avoided being assimilated by any of the professional networks, the religious groups here do not usually want a psychosis victim with sex abuse history. We are mistreated by church, wallet checked and thrown out with more people stalking you, maybe not even leaving you alone to work.

Religion is problem and better to avoid in some places, it is anti-christ so it really does take your spiritual toll. Metaphysical therapy stuff is usually scam, even some making slaves by mentally abusing some themselves. I would never go near metaphysical as you can catch crazy twice and these psychopathic types do not care if you survive this…

You know, I’m avoiding a lot in my community because we just had too many outside workers who are wrong join into the social situations here and they trash someone, even hunt people down at work…rest is making slaves and some of the wealthy ones could not get away from being a mistress to get left alone. Just stay home and watch TV, better outcome. I went back to my old friends byway of Facebook, the people I know are okay…

I really liked this series, Roots. It’s one of the good ones, well told story.

It should have been ā€œunusual beliefsā€ as I was saying ā€œkunta kinteā€ to myself as I was avoiding psychiatry and the hatred I recieved for ā€œhaving lost itā€(from many people).

@Stillperkin : I hate metapshysicals/frauds teaching new age/healing ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– . Right with you there.
