Has anyone here quit smoking/vaping while on antipsychotics?

I want to quit vaping but it feels impossible on these meds has anyone here quit before while on meds? How can I do this? Thanks

It’s nothing to do with the meds. Nicotine is very addictive.

I quit smoking by switching to vaping.

I can’t seem to quit vaping even though I want to.

I relapsed. So my opinion probably doesn’t count. Back to the vape— flair. But I had quit for years and still don’t smoke cigs. It’s a pleasure I’m personally not willing to give in to just yet!

I cut back on smoking 8 months ago, going from 15 down to 8 a day. I like to smoke but realize it’s damaging my health.

One of the resident at the hospital basically yelled at me for smoking…

Now I feel guilty Everytime I smoke…

I quit smoking when i started antipsychotics, but i was also a light smoker. The only reason why i stopped is because i lost my job and couldnt afford to buy cigs anymore.

I quit with Tabex for three months, then got back. I did vaping for six months straight but after that time it wasn’t the real deal anymore, so I got back to tobacco. I’m hopelessly addicted to it, I had quit attemps, like throwing away the cigs, thinking I will quit, failling getting new cigs and smoking, and doing all this two other times on the same day. So I decided if I run out of tobacco or cigarettes then I will try.

I can not stand it with the smokes most of the time I’m thinking that I should quit, but then I can’t stay quit. It’s like an illness, I’m worse than @jukebox.

I quit smoking cold turkey in 2018. I was smoking a pack of Marlboro Gold daily. Haven’t touched a cigarette ever since nor do I vape.

The key is to keep trying.

I take Invega, clozapine and Wellbutrin.

I quit smoking in January 2018 after smoking on and off since 2005. I was on Seroquel.

Try Wellbutrin. It worked for me. It blocks nicotine receptors in the brain.

I was never a smoker but started vaping a few years ago when I got severe negative symptoms. I hate tobacco smell.

I was only vaping before the pandemic began, then I picked up the cigs again…I smoke about 5 cigs a day. Ironically, I “learned” how to smoke 30 years ago on a frigging psych ward. It was pretty ubiquitous with the patients back then.

I used vaping to quit smoking. I switched one day, then every couple of months I would take the vape juice nicotine percentage down until I finally hit 0%. Then it was a matter of working on not needing the hand to mouth thing, as I’d already quit the nicotine. This was over 8 years ago, and I don’t smoke anymore. I keep a vape with 0% in my house just in case, but I very rarely, if ever, use it.

I was not on APs at the time I quit, though.

I was on 40mg of Olanzapine (antipsychotic) and 75mg of Venlafaxine (antidepressant) when I quit smoking (cold turkey). That was 13 years ago.

Back in Germany :de: I had a near death asthma attack and I been kept in hospital. My room-mate in the hospital told me his whole lifestory in three days. He had 7 children. I came out a non-smoker but started after 2 months again cause my ex was a heavy smoker. Than I was in a locked ward for awhile in Australia ,quit smoking but started again as soon as I got out cause I was a dick. I was on antipsychotics all the time. Dam, I love smoking. Filling my lungs with smoke, the buzz, similar to orgasm. I think the smoking makes the AP effect less.
